The Boma outdoor dining

The Leopard Lodge is pleased to announce our latest addition to our growing business, our ultra cool wood enclosed outdoor dining area, called a Boma in Africa. Here we will dine under the stars, lit by the soft glow of the oil lamps and flaming torches surrounding the long dining table. Take time to let the stress of the city melt into the night, as you dine on our African carvery, and sample beers and wines from Africa. A set menu is applicable for dining in the Boma, and is priced at $35.00 per person.

The Restaurant

The Leopard Lodge restaurant is reminiscent of an opulent African Game Lodge, with its fusion of stone walls and rich wood interior. We have preserved the typical African lodge atmosphere, with subtle lighting, soft calico curtains and unusual African artefacts on the walls. We hope we have created a warm and unique dining experience for you to enjoy!

Cuisine

Our Leopard Lodge restaurant menu has been carefully selected from 4 years of feedback from our loyal diners, and there should now be a dish that suits everyone. We are a premium steakhouse that specialises in South African cuisine like thick juicy steaks, racks of ribs, spicy peri peri chicken, bobotie and ox-tail stew, to name a few.

All our prime Australian MSA grade beef, lamb and pork comes directly from the famous Harvey region, 90 minutes south of Perth. In order to attain the explosion of flavours found in Africa, we have painstakingly perfected all our own special homemade sauces and spices.

The South African Drinks

We are proud to have one of the most comprehensive South African drink menus in Perth, and endeavour to keep importing new beers and spirits on a regular basis. Currently, we stock the following beers: Carling Black Label, Castle, Amstel, Windhoek and Hansa Pilsner. There is also Savannah and Hunters Gold cider, Klipdrift and Klipdrift Premium brandy, Captain Morgan rums, Van der Hum liqueur and Mainstay cane available. We also stock a large variety from the Weihenstephan Brewery in Germany.

The red and white wine menu comprises of both Australian and South African wines. We believe that having a good wine to compliment your meal plays a huge part in the dining experience, so please enjoy our selection by the glass or the bottle!

History

It all started in early 2006, when Mark and Theresa bought the closed Nonna Delma's Italian restaurant and turned it into an African restaurant called The Keg and Bean (a combination of The Keg, and The Mug and Bean in South Africa).

We did a roaring trade for a few years, but realised that many people thought we were a pub/tavern, and decided in 2008 to refurbish and relaunch the restaurant as under the name Serengeti African Grill. This proved to be a good decision, and business really took off, with people realising we were actually a quality steakhouse.

Our Vision

Our dream was always to eventually set up a game lodge style enterprise, and the opportunity came up in 2010 to relocate our restaurant to a location only 10 mins from Joondalup. Nearby the old Dizzy Lamb Park, we found an amazing stone building that used to be an art gallery, and we have converted it to become our new restaurant.

Due to the size of the land, we are hoping to set up a few luxurious African tents where guests can spend the evening after having a meal at our restaurant. If all goes according to plan, we should have the first of 5 tents operational by mid 2013.

We hope our new restaurant site of 10 acres has the potential to become a small African bush lodge. In light of this, we decided the name had to reflect our new focus, and hence the Serengeti African Grill has now become The Leopard Lodge.
